Blake Flattley is a singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He was raised on the music of the Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash and grew a strong fondness for harmony and storytelling in song. 

In 2008, he founded the Orange Effect, a harmony-driven, Americana-folk quartet, and later released music under the names Graffiti Cathedral and Blake Flattley. In 2015, Blake released There Will Be Rest. The title track was a finalist for the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. 

He has toured nationally, playing renowned venues such as the House of Blues, Los Angeles’ Hotel Cafe, New York City’s Rockwood Music Hall, and the Bitter End, sharing the stage with acts like Young the Giant, Sharon Van Etten, The Arcadian Wild, and Andy Gullahorn. 

Blake has contributed to Winter Is On My Head, CommunionArts, and 1517 Music as both a producer and an artist, most recently releasing Freedom Lessons, a hip-hop/indie rock crossover album exploring Luther’s Small Catechism through song with collaborators, Flame, Steve Zank, Mashell, and LOSO. 

He has served parishes in Arizona, Houston, New York City, and Southern California, and he is currently the Artist in Residence at Bethany Lutheran Church in Long Beach, CA.

Blake holds a BA in Humanities with an emphasis in music, an MA in Theology, and a Director of Parish Music certificate from Concordia University in Irvine, CA. He lives with his wife Tara and their children in southern California.
